Innovative thinker, problem solver, and thought leader are just a few of the words most often used to describe Kurt Henke. With over four decades of experience in fire protection, Kurt leads a dynamic group of consultants with AP Triton. His organization focuses on addressing a broad range of challenges related to fire safety, public safety, and private sector safety, with excellence as the goal for every client. AP Triton is an industry leader, serving clients on a national scale with a solid team of professionals who have the expertise, intellect, and innovative approach to guide clients through the toughest of situations.

In 2014, Kurt partnered with Scott Clough to launch AP Triton. Still heavily involved in fire service leadership and administration, he saw a desperate need in the industry to provide long-term, creative, and sustainable solutions to an industry that required clarity.

Kurt successfully implemented the first Medicaid reimbursement program in the country for ambulance transport across California. This herculean effort required the shepherding of the regulatory and legislative processes in the state, along with building the program from the ground up which to date has generated over $1B in recovered operating revenue. Ground Emergency Medical Transport (GEMT) has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in reimbursement to fire agencies and hospital districts in California alone and the program has been successfully replicated in a number of additional states.

Kurt leads AP Triton in specialized consulting in emergency medical services, operations planning and preparedness, fire and life safety, wildfire protection planning, administrative services, and legislative advocacy. In addition, fire and life safety consulting has expanded into the private sector, with notable clients such as the San Francisco 49ers, the Carolina Panthers, and Alco Iron and Metals. He is committed and focused on bringing order to chaos in a challenging environment through knowledge, experience, and trust.

His professional expertise includes working in every aspect of fire protection and prevention from the ground up. He is considered a “maverick,” moving through the ranks from entry level to the role of Fire Chief with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the seventh-largest fire agency in the State of California. He has also held roles as a public sector union representative covering fire protection professionals, ultimately achieving the role as union president responsible for six different cities and districts spanning 16 years. Kurt has also served as the chairman of the California Metropolitan Fire Chiefs and has been honored as California Fire Chief of the Year.
